Volkstheater, or "People's theater" is named after the major theater hall that is located close by. It is part of two lines on the U-Bahn Wien, the metro system that serves Vienna. It was opened 1980, but underwent major renovations in 1991 to accommodate the increase in traffic from the introduction of a second line.
