It was opened in late 2009 and is part of the Dubai Metro, one of the newest and most advanced of all transport systems in the world.

Union Square may share the same name as a certain Manhattan subway station, but that's where the similarity ends. First off, it's spanking new. So new it hasn't been pissed or puked on yet. It is also being dubbed the biggest underground station in the world, spanning 220, 000 square feet.

The Dubai Metro also lays claim to being the world's longest fully automated metro system. So if you're a train driver looking for work you might want to bypass Dubai.
